With the potential PC scrap pile from Windows 10 end of life, this PC was becoming risky for running windows. Luckily, there are alternative operating systems out there which are still very happy to run on older hardware. So, this came back under my roof after #1 son bought himself a more modern (and compatible with Windows 11) PC.

This PC, which was originally built from a lot of spare parts, got another spare part transplant: the best of the spare parts from my latest Desktop PC upgrade (namely, the better CPU and RAM). Plus an old SSD that I had gathering dust!

This all makes a 8 "core" (well, 4 cores and 8 threads) Piledriver running Xubuntu 24.04 LTS (Noble Numbat) which is more than capable of running Minecraft (and Steam too) with upgrade paths for when the need arises!
